Arne Slot conceded that it's natural for questions to be raised about his future after another convincing defeat against the Dutch champions.
The Reds suffered their ninth loss in 12 games, representing the club's poorest streak after being relegated in the 1953-54 season.
They were outplayed by the Dutch league title holders on a punishing night at their home ground.
“I feel secure, things are alright, I've received a lot of backing from the top,” the coach commented.
“It would be nice to reverse this trend and secure a win obviously but when you're working as a coach and struggling then it's typical that questions are asked.”
He continued, “I'm comfortable with my position. It is not the first time I've found myself in a challenging situation but it's crucial that we improved our results.”
When asked to expand on his discussions with the team officials, the head coach explained:
“We talk a lot. They assist to the team and to me and we have those conversations but they don't phone me every single minute of the day to say they back me.”
He mentioned, “During our regular conversations we have I sense the trust. But I've not talked to them since this game yet so we'll see.”
The manager lamented recurring shortcomings from his squad in their European defeat, namely wasted chances and leaking goals.
Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was blunter in his assessment of the current crisis.
“I don’t have the answers. Frankly, I do not. I’m saying that to everybody,” the midfielder remarked.
“It's simply unacceptable. I don't need to wait to think about it. I’m past feeling anger inside. I’m at the point currently where I simply lack the phrases.”
He continued, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the side I follow. I support them, and I've watched Liverpool since I was young.”
“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Liverpool team going through a spell of this nature with results like these.”
Jones concluded, “However we continue to wear the crest on our shirts. And as long as that badge is removed, we will always fight.”
“We will attempt to get this team return to where it needs to be, show everyone again what Liverpool stands for and why people call it the best team in the planet.”
“At this moment, things are bad and it needs to change.”
