Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been earned on hardcourt

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev claimed his maiden trophy for nearly 30 months with success over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a difficult season, managing just one win at the major tournaments and experiencing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

His unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serving in especial - resulted in him exiting of the world's top 10 and ultimately separating with long-time coach Gilles Cervara.

Presently collaborating with Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has steadily improved in the past month - climaxing in a closely contested competitive triumph over challenger Moutet.

This marks the player's maiden championship since the Rome competition and maiden on a hard court since that period of the previous year.

Victory also signifies he has won twenty-one victories at 21 distinct competitions.

"For the first time I have attended a competition with my both daughters at once, so to secure a trophy is especially meaningful," said tennis professional the champion.

"This victory is in honour of my child Victoria, because the maiden victory I achieved when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had failed in his last six title deciders, featuring in Halle previously this season.

His defensive approach and regular emotional displays on court had caused observers to doubt if his ability to perform at the highest level was over.

But the player has made changes in the last few weeks, attempting to come to the net and compete aggressively, reinforced by an enhanced serving game.

The champion came back from a disadvantage in the first set against the challenging Moutet, securing four of the final five exchanges to gain the advantage.

Both players traded breaks in the following set before Moutet, bidding for his maiden ATP Tour victory, gained dominance to create a decider.

He saved 4 early break points in a tight final set before the champion secured a break to 15 to serve for the match.

Fittingly, Medvedev clinched victory with a rally at the front of the court, with the Frenchman failing to manage a shot after a lengthy match.
