Red Bull Reveals Significant 2026 Driver Line-Up: Hadjar Steps Up, 18-Year-Old Arvid Lindblad Gets Formula 1 Seat.

The Red Bull team has confirmed a new line-up for the 2026 Formula 1 season, moving up French driver Isack Hadjar to its A-team and giving 18-year-old Briton Arvid Lindblad his maiden F1 drive.

Lindblad, who has a Swedish father and a mother of Indian descent, will be team-mate to New Zealander Liam Lawson at the sister squad Racing Bulls.

This driver musical chairs sees Japan's Yuki Tsunoda being without a drive post a half-decade in F1.

The New British Hope

The youngster was marked out as a potential future star by Red Bull from the age of 12 years old.

Talking about the team's junior academy, a key advisor noted last year that Lindblad "appears very talented", commending his "natural quickness".

The team prepared a programme since last year to ready Lindblad for his likely F1 debut in 2026, featuring runs in F1 practice sessions at the British and Mexican races.

The rookie said it was a "proud moment", adding: "Next season represents a massive test, and I know there's much to understand, but I'm ready to work closely with the team and step up. I am incredibly excited to get started."

Lindblad has taken two races in F2 so far this season and is sixth in the championship ahead of the season finale in Abu Dhabi.

Hadjar's Big Break

Hadjar's F1 career began on a low note when he spun out during the warm-up lap of the season-opening Australian Grand Prix. However, since then, he has been one of the stand-out rookies of the year.

His performances included an remarkable podium finish at the Dutch Grand Prix, and he sits 10th in the drivers' standings.

A senior team figure commented: "Isack has displayed great maturity and proved to be a quick learner. Crucially, he has the raw speed that is the primary necessity in this sport. We believe he can succeed next to Max."

Hadjar described it "an awesome move" and said he felt "ready".

Tsunoda's Exit

To partner Lindblad at Racing Bulls, Red Bull have opted for Lawson instead of Tsunoda.

The New Zealander started 2025 with the senior squad but was moved back after just two races. He has found his form at Racing Bulls with notable results, persuading Red Bull he merits more time.

The Japanese driver, in contrast, loses his place after a disappointing season. His highest finish is a sixth place, and he has accumulated a small fraction of the team's constructors' championship.

The driver market moves confirm that there is also no spot on the Red Bull programme for Ireland's Alex Dunne, who will continue in F2 for 2026.
