Former Doctor Faces Sexual Assault Allegations Against Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care

Prosecutors have announced that a ex- doctor stands accused of committing assaults involving thirty-eight individuals who were patients.

The Serious Allegations

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with dozens of acts of sexual assault – including acts against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 to 2021.

A deputy chief prosecutor commented, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to assist a detailed and complex police inquiry, carefully reviewing the available evidence to establish that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

Scope of the Police Inquiry

These allegations follow what investigators called a “complex investigation” into alleged assaults at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.

The defendant is scheduled to appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.

Prosecutors said the forty-five charges comprise:

• Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
• 17 counts of assault by penetration.
• 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
• 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
• One count of attempting to assault by penetration.
